In early March 2020, I got contacted by Accuweather to shoot their office space in the financial district of New York City. The address was 7 World Trade Center and while I was never in the building, I know it would be in the heart of downtown Manhattan. Once I got up to the 35th floor I had a magnificent view of both the World Trade Center Memorial and The Oculus.

For those who don’t know, The Oculus is the new transportation hub in downtown NYC right outside the WTC Memorial. It was designed by Santiago Calatrava who is known for his designs including modern shapes and spires.

I have passed The oculus dozens of times over the last few years but never had a chance to visit but being on the 35th floor overlooking the structure gave me a perspective that few will ever see. Once my commissioned shoot was over, the light was hitting the structure, and street below, perfectly so I grabbed some shots from this unique perspective. Once I was done with my shoot, I headed downstairs and figured I might as well walk around and take some close up and interior shots.
