This shot of 56 Leonard Street is one of my most recent shots. I have seen or passed by this building many times and always said: “one day I will find a great angle of this building to shoot.” That moment came in April of 2021.
I was doing a shoot at the Accuweather offices at 7 World Trade Center. The place had spectacular views all around. One one side, I was overlooking the World Trade Center Memorial and The Oculus (this is where many of my images in The Oculus series came from) and on the other saw, I had a complete view north of midtown Manhattan, and more specially, 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca. I grabbed my long lens and grabbed a shot.
What I love most about this shot is that the building was so far away but by grabbing the long telephoto lens, I got a ton of compression which makes the image appear “grabbed” and larger then it is from where I was standing. I hope you enjoy this piece!
